Does Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy actually work? To build Self Confidence and help in dating?
I was wondering if hypnosis actually works. I have been fighting being really shy, low self confidence and esteem, which results in depression. It sucks to be horrible at dating which seems to be tied in with low self confidence.
So i was wondering if it actually worked? In general my body is always very tense and i find it very difficult to relax. It could be something to do with ADD.
Thanks
Scott
jandy you shouldnt jump to conclusions. Im 35 and have a Masters in Business but i suck in social situations.
I have been working with therapists and have been diagnosed by professionals. I havent been a teenager in 18 years
Yes, hypnosis actually works.
There are a lot of books on the topic, if you want to check them out:
-Hypnosis for beginners
-The Power of the subconscious mind
-Mediation and Hypnosis
To name a few. I'd start with those, as they give good overviews and the three of them together should give you sturdy background knowledge and an idea of what to do. Hypnosis for beginners is particularly good.
Some people don't think it actually works, but hypnosis isn't understood by many people. Most people still think it involves waving medallions in people's faces and telling them to rob a bank, versus being relaxed and sending yourself positive messages.
Edit: I,e. Answer above…(jandy)

I had a serious fear of flying and I had to for my job or I had to change professions,,, stuntmen don’t have a bunch of options,, I had to get on a jet or never work again,,, I went to a hypnotisist 2 times and have never had a problem since,,, and that was 20 years ago

quit self diagnosing. it’s normal to be that way as a teenager. depression is an actual illness that is biologically based, but can be triggered by external and internal events. death. or chronic illness. and requires medications min of 6 mo or more. it can go away on it’s own.. however ,depending on cause.
save your money, cause the fortune tellers of hypnosis will take your money…

I don’t think it would work for me because I’m kind of a control freak, so I don’t think I’d be able to stay focused and relaxed. The idea of possibly not being in control would probably snap me out of it
But, I’d be totally willing to try it for self-esteem type things too.
Being hypnotized for these type of reasons can’t hurt. If you really want to make an improvement, I’d give it a shot.
Good luck!
