I studied hypnosis for a time in a classroom setting. It is way cool and yes it does work. What I studied used guided imagery. Your sub conscious mind uses metaphors to communicate. Hypnosis removes ones critical faculties which is that part between the conscious and sub conscious mind the part that cares to destinguish what is real and what is not. remove that and the body will respond to commands. Now stage hypnosis is a scam. Noone can be made to do anyting they do not want to do. Its interesting to study. I was amazed.

I've seen hypnosis in cases like this to work for some people, but not work for others. For example, my uncle went to a hypnotist to stop smoking, and in his case it worked. Another friend of mine did it too, and he said "At first it worked. I honestly did not want to have a cigarette." But then after hanging around with his smoking friends and smoking wife for a while, he was exposed to the second-hand smoke, and didn't find it so repulsive any more. Shortly after, he started smoking again.
I don't think you can really change people's minds with it though, because trying to feed an idea to somebody who has a deep-seated disagreement with it is going to be a little defensive, which means they won't be in too much of a state of suggestion any more. It sure seems to have some results though when a person truly wants the effect to work.

Hypnosis works. Most intelligent people can be hypnotized if they want to be. A person can quit smoking; for example, by being hypnotized, but the suggestion wiil wear off if the person stubornly returns to smoking.

A good hypnotherpist can make a world of difference. I'm looking for one also, I'm specifiaclly looking for a past-life regression which can help nwith all the above but the therpist (if they're good) should be able to do both to detremine wether the cause is from a past life or this life.
I don't know where to look but the best thing I know is word of mouth.
